Darlo Theatre Group Members Spotlight - Interview with Mel Jensen

Blog / Darlo Theatre Group Members Spotlight - Interview with Mel Jensen

How long have you been part of the Darlo Drama community?

I've been a member of the Darlo community for over ten years now!

What drew you to Acting classes at Darlo in the first place?

I'd studied at other acting schools in Sydney and I wanted to experience doing my first play.

What are the Acting classes at Darlo Drama like?

There are so many great options! The classes are fun and the teachers are very welcoming. I've done everything from Actors Lab with Glen Hamilton to Directing, masterclasses, plays and now I'm a member of the Darlo Drama Theatre Community and have produced two of my own Studio Shows. The number of friends I've made through Darlo is the real gift - it's great to find your tribe and now Darlo feels like my creative home. They give me opportunities you can't get at other Sydney drama schools.

What has been your favourite play that you have been involved in at Darlo Drama and why?

My favourite would have to be The Jungle, directed by Glen Hamilton. I got to play a washed up, drug addicted rock star who swore a lot. It was the best experience and I had a ball.

Are you performing in anything coming up?

I'm producing and acting in a studio show in June called God of Carnage, Directed by Romney Hamilton. Keep an eye on the Darlo website and come along.
